Autumn Auction at Kloster Eberbach
For precisely 200 years, wines have been auctioned at Kloster Eberbach, the former 12th-century Cistercian monastery in the heart of the Rheingau. One of the auctions most highly esteemed by wine connoisseurs is the traditional, annual autum auction at Kloster Eberbach. Germany's largest wine estate, the Hessian State Wine Domains, as well as some 45 renowned members of the VDP Rheingau, will auction a selection of their finest wines of the highly praised vintage 2005 on 23 September 2006. The wines have been sampled and assessed by a panel of experts that has set opening bid prices. The wines are available exclusively at auction.
Weingut Balthasar Ress will auction their 2005 Rüdesheimer Berg Rottland Riesling Spätlese (opening bid: Euro 11/0.75 liter) and 2005 Hattenheimer Nussbrunnen Riesling Trockenbeerenauslese (opening bid: Euro 100/0.75 liter or Euro 50/0.375 liter).
Note: There are special conditions for retailers. If you can provide proof of your status as a retailer, there is a 25% discount on the auction price. This enables retailers to offer their customers rarities that are not available on the free market - and a profit margin is ensured in any case! The Balthasar Ress team will be happy to help with advance registration.
Everyone can place bids, also online via Internet. On site at the monastery, though, only brokers are permitted to bid. Those wishing to attend the auction must register with a broker, the administrative office of the VDP Rheingau, or the Hessian State Wine Domains no later than 15 September 2006. For additional information and/or to register, contact the VDP Rheingau: tel +49 (0)6123/676-812, e-mail vdp-rheingau@vr-web.de
