Awards in Japan and America

Shortly after winning an award for the best Riesling at the International Wine Challenge in London, the Hattenheim/Rheingau wine estate Balthasar Ress received more good news from abroad. Results of international wine competitions in Japan and America reflected a strong market acceptance for the Riesling wines of Balthasar Ress.

At this year's Japan Wine Challenge, one of the most significant competitions of Asia, Balthasar Ress won two medals: Hattenheimer Nussbrunnen Riesling Auslese 2003 was awarded silver, Hattenheimer Schützenhaus Riesling Kabinett 2005 took bronze. The competition results will enable us to strengthen our good position in the Japanese market. Our success in Japan is primarily due to the harmony of our Rieslings with Japanese cuisine and its typical spices.

The International Wine Competition in San Francisco numbers among the most important wine competitions in the USA. More than 3,500 wines are entered every year. Balthasar Ress was among the winners. The estate's Schloss Reichartshausen Riesling Kabinett 2005 won a gold medal, and its Hattenheimer Nussbrunen Riesling Erstes Gewächs 2003 a bronze. This underscores the significance of Weingut Balthasar Ress in the American market.
